There are many factors that determine how long a course of psychological therapy might last for. Some people are looking for more brief solution focussed work (e.g. under 10 sessions) whereas others may need a longer-term therapy over a period of 6 months or more. I generally recommend blocks of 6 sessions followed by a check in and review to consider how treatment is going and whether we should continue. I can offer sessions on a weekly or a fortnightly basis depending on needs and preference.
Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) is a time limited psychotherapy that is offered in a block of 8, 16 or 24 sessions according to complexity.
